Whether you use oral contraceptives, a vaginal ring, a contraceptive patch, an injection, an IUD, or an implant, you can use the Flo app to learn so much more about birth control.
If you’d like your Flo app to offer you a reminder to take your birth control or log that you’ve taken it, all you need to do is select Menu (your avatar) > Reminders > Medication and contraception > choose the type you use > switch it on and make the necessary edits > Save.
To log that you’ve taken the pill, tap “+” on the main screen > Oral contraceptives (OC) > Taken on time > Apply. You can also log yesterday’s pill by following the same steps. At the moment, there is no option to log emergency contraception in the app.
When you set notifications for contraception pills, Flo makes your cycle length predictions equal to the number of contraceptive pills in one pack. If there is no break in the intake of your pills, and you start a new pack, Flo will not show a delay and will consider it as a continuation of your current cycle.
If you skip the break, go to Menu > Reminders > Medication and contraception and specify the new intake start date so that Flo can continue to send the correct notifications.
Once you enable contraception reminders, your Flo app will hide the fertile window and ovulation predictions. For a copper IUD, your ovulation date will still be highlighted in your app, but it will appear as a gray circle.
This handy option to log when you’ve taken your birth control is available for users who are 18 years or older.
If you’d like to log that you’ve stopped using contraception, you can turn off the reminder for it via Menu > Reminders > Medication and contraception > switch it off > Save.
If you haven’t been tracking contraception in the app before, it won’t be possible to log the end of it or the previous intake.
