To collect cervical mucus, insert clean fingers (index and middle) into the vagina. Remove your fingers, rub the mucus between the two fingers, squeeze them together, and then slowly spread them apart.
What types of cervical mucus are there?
Clear
This discharge is thin and watery and can happen anytime during the cycle.
Egg white
This may indicate possible fertile days or a high chance of getting pregnant.
The discharge is transparent and stretchy, like raw egg white. It can be stretched up to 4 inches (10 cm) and may indicate the most fertile days.
Sticky
This may indicate a low chance of getting pregnant.
The discharge is cloudy or transparent. It sticks, separates easily, and doesn’t stretch.
Creamy
This may indicate a low chance of getting pregnant.
The discharge is white and uniform, like body lotion. A creamy white discharge that is thick and more opaque can also be normal at any time of your cycle.
